How We Give
Having a home and community is a basic human need. Lee Connellee, founder of Falling Leaf Card Co., is passionate about serving the homeless in Charlotte and around the nation.
“The church community we were married in was very involved in serving the homeless", says Lee Connellee. "I regularly volunteered at the local shelter to make meals and I served in a group that met weekly to provide food from a pantry, clothing, and bus tokens for transportation for those in need. Our hearts broke for these people who were living on the street – separated from family and friends.”
Since then, Lee has been fortunate to serve with many outstanding organizations that are on the front lines every day helping to empower the homeless and walk beside them on a path to self-sufficiency.
While the issues surrounding homelessness can be complex, our desire to help is simple. Ten percent of all Falling Leaf Card Co. profits are donated to non-profits who are on the front lines delivering food, clothing, shelter and counseling services to those in need.
A few of the organizations we support:
Charlotte Rescue Mission – a residential recovery program that helps people struggling with the disease of addiction achieve long-term sobriety, find employment and stable housing, and restore and build healthy relationships.
Charlotte Family Housing - a “shelter to housing” program for homeless families
Urban Promise - provides Charlotte's children and youth with the spiritual, academic, and social development necessary to become Christian leaders determined to restore their communities.
